University of Pennsylvania Center for Neurobiology and Behavior
University of Pennsylvania Center for Neurobiology and Behavior

The CNB promotes interdisciplinary research in the basic neural and molecular mechanisms underlying complex behavior. The CNB consists of a confederation of individual laboratories located in the Translational Research Laboratories (TRL). Investigators search for genes that may predispose individuals to certain disorders, including mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders (e.g., obesity), epilepsy, and schizophrenia. They also examine how anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, and anti-psychotic drugs work in the human body.

The mission of the Center is to strengthen behavioral neurobiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the pre-eminence of basic research programs in the Department of Psychiatry. The primary scientific objective of the CNB is to foster interdisciplinary research and training in the basic neural and molecular mechanisms underlying complex behavior, including but not limited to psychopathologic behavior. The Center complements and extends the research program of the Department of Neuroscience by supporting an integrated systems approach to the neurobiology of mammalian and human behavior.

Fountain Gallery is a not-for-profit cooperative run by and for artists living with mental illness. Beginning with a handful of artists in the summer of 2000, the Gallery has grown to include nearly 40 artists, supported by a small professional staff and numerous dedicated volunteers. By exhibiting visionary art, achieving commercial success and generating public dialogue, the Gallery is making a vital contribution to the New York arts community and working to change common misconceptions about people living with severe persistent mental illness.

Minding Your Mind is working with individual artists of Fountain Gallery to produce gift cards for sale on this website. The proceeds of gift card sales go to support the individual artists, Fountain Gallery and Minding Your Mind.
